Baccarat
The object of Baccarat is simple: bet on which hand will have the highest value – the player, the bank or a tie. To begin, a total of four cards are dealt: the first and third are the player’s hand, while the second and fourth belong to the dealer. Face cards and tens are worth zero, aces are worth 1 and cards 2 through 9 are worth that number. The hand value is determined by the sum total of the cards. For example, a 2 and a 3 are worth 5 (2+3 = 5). However, in values that exceed 10, the first digit is dropped. So a 6 and a 7 are worth 3 (6+7 = 13, drop the first digit of 1). The highest possible value is 9.
EZ Baccarat
EZ Baccarat is played the same way as traditional baccarat. The draw rules have NOT been changed.
There is no longer a 5% commission on a winning Banker wager. Instead, a winning Banker hand having a three card total of seven (the Dragon 7) is a push.
Additional Wagers
A Banker win with a 3 card total of 7 is called a Dragon 7; and optional bets made on this wining outcome are paid 40 to 1. The Banker side is a 'Push.' All other bets lose.
A Player win with a 3 card total of 8 is called a Panda 8; and optional bets made on this wining outcome are paid 25 to 1. The Player side is paid even money. All other bets lose.
Midi Baccarat
Midi Baccarat is a cross between Mini Baccarat and Baccarat. You experience the benefits of both games - but with a faster pace of play.
Blackjack
The classic game in which the player tries to draw to 21, or closer to 21, than the dealer without going over (busting). Each player starts with two cards face up, then is allowed to hit (take another card) or stay (play that hand). The dealer starts with two cards as well, but one is face up and the other face down. Face cards (jack, queen, king) are worth 10, and aces are worth 1 or 11 (player choice). Receiving an ace and a 10 on your first two cards is the lucrative hand known as “blackjack.” Additional bets like “splitting” and “doubling down” are also available on certain hands.
Blackjack: Bonus Spin, Blazing 7’s & Lucky Ladies
Bonus Spin: Players who made a side bet on the $5 Bonus Spin and are dealt a Blackjack will press a button that spins a virtual wheel allowing them to win various prizes or a top jackpot award. All Bonus spin side bets lose if players do not have an Ace or Blackjack in their ?first two cards.
Blazing 7’s: Players who made a side bet on the $5 Blazing 7’s Progressive and are dealt any 7’s in their initial two cards win according to the posted pay table. If Player has two 7’s in the first two cards and the Dealer’s up card is a 7, the Player will qualify for one of the posted Three 7’s payouts.
Golden Nugget Website Lake Charles
Lucky Ladies: Lucky Ladies is an optional side bet made on a standard blackjack game. The winning wager occurs when the player’s first two cards equal twenty (20). Higher payouts occur if the player’s two cards are suited or matched, or if the player’s two cards are both Queens of Hearts and the dealer has a blackjack.
craps
Possibly the most exciting game on the floor, Craps often draws the biggest crowds. The game appears complicated to the newcomer, but the premise is actually quite simple. Players wage money on the outcome of one roll, or a series of rolls, of two dice by the “shooter.” The game is played in rounds, and the first roll of each new round is called the “come-out roll.” An array of player bets is available both for the come-out roll, as well as each additional roll, with payouts dependent on the likelihood of each outcome.
fortune Pai gow
Pai Gow Poker was created using elements of the ancient Chinese game Pai Gow and the popular American game of Poker. To begin, each player receives seven cards. The object is for the player to create two poker hands out of the seven cards: a five-card poker hand and a two-card poker hand. To win, both the player’s high hand and the second hand must be higher than the bank hands to win. If only one hand is higher, the result is a tie. If both hands are lower, the player loses.
Roulette
Perhaps the simplest table game of all. In Roulette, a croupier spins the wheel in one direction then places and spins a ball in the opposite direction. After a number of revolutions, the ball eventually falls into one of 38 slots. If the ball lands in a number or color where you placed a bet prior to the spin, you win.
High Card Flush
High card Flush is the only non-blackjack table game to come along that is non-poker based. It is suits-based and requires no knowledge of poker to play.
Flush: Compare your Flush to the paytable for great odds.*
Straight Flush: Win big with a Straight Flush. The larger the Straight Flush, the more you win!*
Ante: Win when your Flush is higher than the Dealer, or if the Dealer doesn’t qualify.
Raise: Make up to 3X your Ante wager, depending upon your Flush. The better your hand, the more you can wager! (Dealer must qualify to win).
*The Flush and Straight Flush wagers are independent of the outcome of the Ante and Raise.
Four Card Poker
In this game, you play against the dealer. You receive five cards to make your best four-card poker hand and the dealer receives six cards to make his best four-card poker hand.
Mississippi Stud
Mississippi Stud is a five-card poker game that lets players bet up to 10 units on a single hand. In Mississippi Stud, players compete against a paytable, not against the dealer, and win if their hand is pair of jacks or better.
Progressive Three Card Poker
The same as three card poker but with an additional side bet of $1 which qualifies players for additional payouts up to the current progressive jackpot. Jackpot starts at $1,000 and increases every round until paid! Ace, king, queen of spades pays the top progressive award.
Ultimate Texas Hold’em
Texas Hold'em Bonus incorporates the elements of Texas Hold'em Poker with the addition of a bonus option. Each player and the dealer are dealt two cards. Five community cards are displayed in the center of the table. Players use their two-card hand along with the five community cards to make the best possible five card poker hand. Unlike Texas Hold'em Poker, players are wagering their hand against the dealer hand.
Three Card Poker
Easy to learn and fun to play, Three-Card Poker has gained enormous popularity in casinos. The game actually consists of two games: Ante-and-Play (in which you play the dealer to see who has the highest hand) and PairPlus (in which you simply wager on whether or not you'll be dealt a pair or better).
For Ante-and-Play, the player places an “ante” (bet) before receiving his cards. The cards are then dealt, and the player can fold and lose the ante or raise by placing a bet of equal money to the ante. If he chooses to play, one of three things can happen. The first is that the dealer does not qualify (have a hand of queen high or better) and the ante is paid out even money while the play bet is returned to the player. If the dealer does qualify, the player wins if his hand ranks higher than the dealer’s, resulting in a payout of even money on the ante and the play bets. If the dealer has the higher hand, the dealer takes both the ante and the play bets.
21+3
21 + 3 combines two of the most basic casino table games: Blackjack and 3 Card Poker. After placing your wagers (a required Blackjack wager and an optional 21 + 3 wager), you will be dealt 2 cards face up. If you made the 21 + 3 wager, use your 2 cards plus the dealer’s up card to create your 3 card hand.
The payout table for the 3 card hand is as follows:
- Straight Flush 9 to 1
- Three of a Kind 9 to 1
- Straight 9 to 1
- Flush 9 to 1
Normal blackjack rules apply for the required Blackjack wager.
TOP 3: A second optional side wager used in the game of blackjack in conjunction with the 21+3 wager. The TOP 3 wager can only be offered on blackjack tables with the 21+3 wager. Just as the 21+3 wager the TOP 3 wager is based on a three card hand using the dealer’s initial up card and the player’s two initial up cards to form a three card poker hand.
dj wild stud poker
The object of DJ Wild Poker is to get a higher five-card poker hand than the dealer. The game is played with five wild cards—the four deuces and one joker. DJ Wild Poker also features a bonus bet that wins if a player has three of a kind or better. The bet pays higher odds if players get the hands naturally, as opposed to using wild cards.
Roll to win Craps
Roll To Win Craps is a groundbreaking semi-autonomous craps game which allows players to shoot real dice across a large LED playing field screen. Utilizing the same footprint as a traditional craps table, the bright LED panels on Roll To Win Craps display amazing graphics and eye-catching animations.
Individual player stations accept cash and provide tickets, so no physical chips are needed for play. Players are able to place bets privately on their screen, and then see their virtual chips displayed on the main playing field.
With 2,149 hotel rooms, the Golden Nugget Las Vegas is thelargest casino in Downtown Las Vegas. It is also one of the oldest casinos in Las Vegas, as it was built in 1946.
The hotel and casino is located directly on the Fremont Street experience situated between the Golden Gate Casino Hotel and Four Queens. Across the street on the other side of Fremont Street is the Fremont and Binion’s Gambling Hall.
The Golden Nugget has changed ownership a few times since it was first opened for business. Previous owners included Jackie Gaughan and Steve Wynn once owned a stake in the Golden Nugget. On September 27, 2005, Landry’s, Inc.closed their purchase of the Golden Nugget Las Vegas and the Golden Nugget Laughlin. Today, Landry’s is still the current owner.
As soon as Landry’s purchased the Golden Nugget they embarked on a three-phase renovation project totaling nearly $320 million dollars and spanning from 2005 to 2009.
The Golden Nugget offers complimentary parking for registered guests at the hotel. There is also self-parking and valet parking available for both guests and non-guests of the hotel. Parking typically costs $5 per hour, with a $20 max and you can always inquire about their validation process as you normally can get parking validated by playing at the casino or dining at one of the restaurants.

Casino at Golden Nugget
[table “” not found /]
With a casino floor that stretches over 30,000 square feet, the Golden Nugget is often regarded as the nicest downtown casino in Las Vegas and we tend to agree. It boasts a large selection of table games and gaming machines and overall is the most comparable casino to casinos located on the strip.
If there was one critique ti have to be that it is not the best option for drinks and comped drinks at the bars, but, the service is still quality and in general, it is the most high-end casino downtown.
The table game offering is solid as the Nugget includes Baccarat, Big Six Wheel, Flushes Gone Wild, Let It Ride, and Roulette just to name a few. And you will be sure to find some of your favorite slot titles spread throughout the casino floor.
Baccarat at Golden Nugget
Baccarat is one of the more popular games on the floor at the Golden Nugget. They have both no commission and commission baccarat tables. Players typically squeeze cards at $25 and higher games and you will most definitely find baccarat running in the high limit room.
Blackjack at Golden Nugget
Most, but not all, blackjack tables pay 3:2 at the Golden Nugget. You can find games with minimums around $10 to $15 with the majority of the games using six-decks. There is a single-deck super fun blackjack game, and wheel blackjack.
With wheel blackjack, if you are dealt blackjack a wheel is spun and you have a chance to win various money denominations. The payback on wheel blackjack is sub-par so we recommend you stick to standard blackjack tables at the Nugget.
Craps at Golden Nugget
Craps at the Golden Nugget is 5x odds, which is one of the lesser craps games for Downtown Las Vegas as other casinos offer 10x odds. However, the tables are still often full as the games are usually run well but the odds are clearly worse. You can find $5 minimums on the craps tables at the Nugget.
The Golden Nugget is also one of the only places downtown that has bubble craps. Bubble craps is an electronic version of the game but two big dice are in a large bubble in the center. One player is the shooter, which involves pushing their button to make the floor bounce the two dice up.
Roulette at Golden Nugget
Double zero roulette is available on the casino floor at Golden Nugget. Minimum bets typically start at $10.
Other Table Games at Golden Nugget
The Golden Nugget has a lot of other table games available on their casino floor. The below is a list of their latest table game offering.
– Big Six Wheel
– Caribbean Stud Poker
– Flushes Gone Wild
– Let It Ride
– Mississippi Stud
– Pai Gow Poker
– Three Card Poker
– Ultimate Texas Hold’em
High Limit Room at Golden Nugget
Golden Nugget Lake Charles Reviews
The high limit room at the Golden Nugget is a bit hidden but it is very nice and quiet. In general, the staff is friendly and the dealers are on point. Stakes typically start at $50 but the casino may lower it to $25 during less busy times. The blackjack rules are more favorable in the high limit area.
Slots at Golden Nugget
The Golden Nugget has over 1,000 gaming machines spread throughout their casino floor. Slot denominations start at $0.01 and go up from there. The Nugget offers a good mix of classic and modern slot titles including Wheel of Fortune, Top Dollar, and more.
High Limit Slots at Golden Nugget
The high limit slots room is located right on the casino floor. If you choose to play in the high limit area you may not like all the surrounding noise but the area offers very high betting limits. The Golden Nugget offers some of the best slot games in all of Downtown Las Vegas.
Video Poker at Golden Nugget
We were a bit surprised to see that the video poker pay tables weren’t as good as a few other downtown casinos such as the Plaza given that the Golden Nugget is widely considered the best downtown casino. Nonetheless, you will be pleased to know that you can find a decent selection of video poker spread throughout the casino floor and bar areas.
The Golden Nugget offers four games with paybacks as high as 98.45%. Denominations start as low as $0.25 and go as high as $25. Overall, it is very much middle of the road but if you play you will be sure to receive comped drinks.
Poker Room at Golden Nugget
Referred to as “The Nugget” the poker room at the Golden Nugget is one of the most famous in the world and very active. There are a total of 13 smoke-free poker tables all with very comfortable seating. Each table is equipped with charging ports for cell phones as well, which we thought was a great touch on the Nugget’s part.
The poker room typically has a few different cash games running, though they are mainly low limit games. Occasionally, you will see higher games running, but in general, the room is usually well-populated with players of all different skill levels.
They also feature a progressive Bad Beat Jackpot that pays out the entire table if someone loses with quad deuces or better. The Bad Beat Jackpot starts at $10,000 and increases daily until it is hit and then it resets.
The Nugget also hosts various poker tournaments a few times per year. We recommend checking their website or inquiring directly to find out the details.
Sportsbook at Golden Nugget
The sportsbook at the Golden Nugget is one of the best Downtown Las Vegas has to offer. Since the Golden Nugget is independently owned, and it is located downtown, means the daily lines could be a bit more friendly relative to some of the sportsbook found on the strip. However, for the most part, you can find comfortable seating to watch games.
The betting board is a bit hard to see as it is right behind the cashiers, low, and blocked by columns. But the Nugget compensates for this by including additional betting boards placed on the main wall between the TVs.
Additionally, the location is pretty ideal as it is tucked away on the casino floor away from distractions and noise of the slots. Overall, you can certainly find better sportsbooks in Las Vegas, but if you are in the downtown area The Golden Nugget’s book is worth checking out.
Hotel at Golden Nugget
The Golden Nugget offers three different room types, below.
– Deluxe Rooms
– Premier Rooms
– Suites
If you are looking to book a room at the Golden Nugget you will have to pay a nightly resort fee of $29.50 plus tax. The resort fee includes access for two to the fitness center, Internet access for up to two devices, two bottles of water daily and free parking. The standard check-in time is 3pm and check-out is 11am.
Their deluxe rooms come with either one king bed or two double beds. The rooms are approximately 364 square feet and typically cost between $135 and $175 per night. The premier rooms also can be booked with one king bed or two doubles. They also include a desk or workspace and some of the rooms offer views of the pool. The rates for the premier rooms typically run between $145 and $195 per night.
The suites at the Golden Nugget are quality. Approximately 1,200 square feet you can choose from a corner suite, one king bed, one bedroom with a spa, and one bedroom with a spa and pool view. They also come with living room furniture and a dining area. Depending on which option you choose you can book a suite from $200 per night all the way up to $700 per night.
Spa and Fitness Center at Golden Nugget
The fitness center at the Golden Nugget is included in the resort fee and thus complimentary for hotel guests. It is open daily and offers free weights, bottled and cold-infused water and fresh fruit. If you would like to access their steam room, sauna, or whirlpool it is an additional $25 per guest. Non-guests can pay $45 per day to access the fitness center, steam room, sauna, and whirlpool.
There is also a spa & salon at the Golden Nugget. It opens daily at 6am and treatments begin at 7am. You can choose to receive a relaxing massage, facial, or use their sauna, whirlpool or steam room. Spa packages are also available to book, as well as, hair, nail and wax treatments.
Restaurants & Bars at Golden Nugget
The three upscale dining choices at the Golden Nugget include Vic & Anthony’s Steakhouse, Chart House, and Grotto Italian Restaurant.
Vic & Anthony’s is a traditional steakhouse that also offers lobster, other seafood, and has a fantastic wine selection. The Chart Houses’ specialty is most definitely seafood, but you can choose from several cuisine options and it is open for both lunch and dinner daily. Finally, Grotto’s offers a classic Italian menu and a great dining atmosphere as you can enjoy a meal overlooking a view of the Nugget’s famous Las Vegas shark tank pool.
Other dining options at the Golden Nugget include the Claim Jumper, Lillie’s Asian Cuisine, Red Sushi, Cadillac Mexican Kitchen, The Buffet, The Grille, Starbucks, and an in-room dining menu. There are also eight different bars to choose fromat the Golden Nugget – Troy Liquor Bar, Rush Lounge, Cadillac Tequila Bar, H2O Bar, Ice Bar, Claude’s Bar, Bar 46, and Stage Bar.
Overall, the restaurant and bar options are aplenty at the Golden Nugget and you most likely cannot go wrong with any of the choices. The Stage Bar is located outdoors so you can enjoy a beverage while overlooking the Fremont Street Experience, which is quite common at many downtown casinos. As we indicated previously, the Nugget is not the best for drinks or service, but at least they do provide variety.
The Showroom at Golden Nugget
The Golden Nugget also hosts a variety of different entertainers and live musicians in their showroom. From what we gathered, the acts typically cater to an older crowd with artists who play music from the 1960’s or 1970’s, but they do make an effort to book more modern talent here and there.
The venue is a seated room with a stage and various tiers of seats. Tickets are available online for purchase or you can always inquire directly at the Golden Nugget if you staying at the hotel.
